"The reading of all good books is like a conversation with the finest men of past centuries."
Rene Descartes
Death is a topic very few people want to talk about. However, it’s a part of life we all must face. In this book the lighter side of dealing with grief and mourning is explored through the eyes of one who has been involved in hundreds of funerals over his lifetime.
This book notes lessons learned, numerous death situations that can bring a smile to your face or even make you laugh, and show you how others have dealt with this period in their lives. Whether you are going through a period of grief, or looking ahead to the time when it will come, this book will help you see the many things involved and perhaps help to ease you through the phases of grief. This is told through the lens of others who have experienced dealing with the death of a loved one.
If you ever need to read a book about death or mourning this is the one to read. It offers humor, help, hope, and healing.
"There are very few resources written by authors of African descent to address the enormous need of learning how to wrestle with Good Grief. Ed Mason provides a stellar resource to help communities of all backgrounds to face this inevitable challenge called grief." -Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, Senior Pastor, Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago, IL
"At first reading "Good Grief" was tough because I am one of those people who avoid the topic of death, but no more. I laughed and became emotional as Ed Mason dressed up the subject of death in the best way possible. The book was a page turner for me. It helped me prepare for what undoubtedly is going to come." - Thurman Chisholm, retired educator and social worker, Chicago Public Schools
"Through the stories told in Good Grief, we get a clear picture that like our grief and mourning, funerals and Homegoing celebrations are as different as we are. I also appreciate the thought provoking questions that Ed Mason includes as well as the silver linings that he highlights throughout." -Jenny Dilts, Founder of Grieving Coach and podcast host of Share Your Story: Exploring Humanity One Heart at a Time, Martinez, CA

Thank you for visiting Isabella's Bookstore, I am delighted you are here!
Opening this shop is a dream coming to life. An independent, community-based online shop filled with books, beautiful products from local artisans, and conversations with authors and neighbors is a convergence of all my favorite things. When you add my eight-year old son asking if he can help show other children where all the best kids’ books are, there you have it: my version of paradise.
Now, more than ever, communities like ours need safe spaces to gather for discussion and reflection. Neighbors should feel welcome and be encouraged to ask questions, share feelings, and get to know one another. Bookshops are wonderful places where the act of pulling a book off the shelf can spark a conversation that leads to authentic and meaningful connections. Bookshops are magical spots where children discover the characters that turn them into life-long readers and learners. These experiences cannot be downloaded.
