IN MEMORIAM 2020
Woven together with the magic of
“This Moment In Time”
This video is dedicated to everybody who lost a loved one in 2020. Joel Diamond, multi-platinum record producer & 2x Grammy nominee, chose this iconic song “This Moment In Time”, because of its meaningful lyric and heart tugging melody. It was also Diamond who produced the original #1 recording by Engelbert Humperdinck of “This Moment In Time”, arranged by Ron Frangipane. “This Moment In Time” was written by the same two writers, Alan Bernstein & Ritchie Adams, who wrote Engelbert’s smash hit “After The Lovin’, which Joel Diamond also produced.
Let’s look back and remember some of the familiar names we lost in 2020.

Immigrants have an unfair advantage when it comes to business.
OMAHA, NEBRASKA, USA, December 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Young serial entrepreneur Haris Reis lives in the United States, but he wasn’t born there. He and his family came to the U.S. when he was just 7 years old, escaping from war-torn Bosnia.
“Being an immigrant can be daunting. Not knowing anybody. Not speaking the language and coming from much less. It can be a never-ending uphill battle as an entrepreneur,” says Reis who, now 26, started BIH Media Inc. in hopes of inspiring people from his home country and showing them what’s really possible.
What may shock most, however, is that despite the obstacles that immigrant entrepreneurs face, Reis believes they have an unfair advantage: their undeniable work ethic. Using that work ethic to build a recession-proof income through a business isn’t easy, but it’s never been more attainable because of the advances in technology. In fact, the Kauffman Foundation concluded that “in 2016 nearly 30 percent of new American companies were started by first-generation immigrants, up from 13 percent in 1996.”
After working directly with Gary Vaynerchuk at Vayner Media, Reis saw first-hand the power of leveraging social media, podcasts, videos, books, and blogs can do for a brand and business.
As Reis now describes it, the Recession-Proof Immigrant Entrepreneur Formula consists of three core steps.
1. Your circle matters. Get around a group of people playing the game at a higher level. This can be hard as most immigrants don’t start off with thousands they can invest in to high-level masterminds, but it is the fastest way to making powerful alliances and next-level income.
2. Build a team. This can be double enriching if the immigrant can employ people from his or her home country. For example, in Bosnia, the average monthly income is $475 USD, so Reis can pay his team members very well without breaking the bank for his business. They love helping someone from their country who is living abroad. It’s a win-win.
3. Diversify. The last thing the immigrant entrepreneur needs to do to recession-proof their business is to make sure they are in multiple industries. That way, they earn money no matter what is happening in the economy.
These steps to building a recession-proof business take time — and investment — but they allow an immigrant to leverage their unfair advantage to attain the very prosperity for which they immigrated.

Collection spans 1960s-2000s, with many first printings, some signed by noted artists including Bonnie McLean, David Singer, Randy Tuten, Stanley Mouse
SOUTHAMPTON, PENNSYLVANIA, USA, December 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — In August, rock music fans the world over took a nostalgic trip back to the 1960s and ’70s as Stephenson’s Auction sold 339 concert posters from the estate collection of pioneer poster collector/dealer Perry Pfeffer (circa 1949-2020). The private collection featuring artist-signed rarities from San Francisco’s Summer of Love and the heyday of New York’s Fillmore East grossed nearly $300,000. On New Year’s Day 2021, Stephenson’s will present Part II of the Perry Pfeffer estate collection, with a 420-lot selection that is every bit as impressive as that seen in the initial offering. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.
“All of the posters and handbills are in mint or near-mint condition, and some are signed by the artists, including Bonnie McLean, David Singer, Randy Tuten, Lee Conklin and Stanley Mouse,” said Cindy Stephenson, owner of Stephenson’s Auction. “At the top end, there are some very rare posters that will likely sell for thousands of dollars, but there are also other excellent examples in the $300-$500 estimate range.”
The collection’s timeline starts in the psychedelic ’60s, a time when Pfeffer was living in San Francisco and presciently acquiring now-classic posters, sometimes from the artists themselves. Later in life, Pfeffer returned to his native Philadelphia and in 2001 launched Postercade, a commercial website popular with poster aficionados. “Perry Pfeffer was a widely acknowledged expert on music posters, and the very best of what he acquired during his lifetime was kept in his private collection,” Stephenson said. The collection’s timeline ends in 2011, as represented by two different styles of Black Keys posters.
The highest-estimated poster is a 1969 lithograph touting the 20th century’s most famous music event, the Original Woodstock Music and Art Fair and Aquarian Exposition. This original Type 1 poster promoting the pinnacle of hippie culture – the famed mega-concert held at Max Yasgur’s Farm in Bethel, New York – was created by artist Arthur Skolnick (b. 1937-) and is expected to sell for $6,000-$8,000.
Prices for Jimi Hendrix memorabilia have remained very strong, as evidenced by the 1968 poster in the Perry Pfeffer auction Part I, which sold for $15,000. The January 1 auction features a Jimi Hendrix Experience Bill Graham BG-140 concert poster from a 1968 performance at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. An original first printing with artwork by Rick Griffin and Victor Moscoso, it carries a $3,000-$4,000 estimate.
Another Hendrix poster, known as the “Flying Eyeball” design, is from a February 1968 performance at the Fillmore Auditorium/Winterland Ballroom, with John Mayall and Albert King as the opening acts for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The first and only printing of this serigraph, in 1989, had a print run of only 500. The auction example, an artist’s proof designed and signed by artist Rick Griffin, is numbered “A/P 3.” Fewer than 50 artist’s proofs of this poster exist, warranting an auction estimate of $3,000-$5,000.
Other highlights from the influential era of rock concert impresario Bill Graham include: Janis Joplin and Her Band Bill Graham concert poster, 1969 original first printing signed by artist Randy Tuten, $1,500-$2,000; and a Procol Harum Bill Graham BG-143 original-printing concert poster from 1968, artist-signed by Lee Conklin, $800-$1,200.
A Grateful Dead Bill Graham Presents BGP-85 New Year’s Eve concert poster promoting a 1993 Oakland (Calif.) Coliseum show is an original printing with art by Randy Chavez. It is estimated at $1,000-$1,500. Similarly estimated, a Bill Graham Presents Red Hot Chili Peppers/Nirvana/Pearl Jam New Year’s Eve concert poster is a 1991 first printing with art by Harry Rossit. The Chambers Brothers Neon Rose NR-12 concert poster advertising a 1967 appearance at San Francisco’s Matrix club is an original printing, artist-signed by Victor Moscoso. It is also estimated at $1,000-$1,500.
Beatles fans will have their pick of original first printings of oversize linen-backed theatrical posters advertising the Fab Four’s movies, including Help! ($500-$700), Yellow Submarine ($1,000-$1,500), and A Hard Day’s Night ($1,000-$1,500). The top prize, however, is a 1967 poster/print set created by photographer Richard Avedon under commission from the Beatles’ merchandising company, NEMS. The set consists of four individual portraits of John, Paul, George and Ringo, with a group estimate of $1,500-$2,000.
A rare, John Lennon-signed and numbered (93/300) erotic lithograph of Yoko Ono, from the January 1970 “Bag One” portfolio that London police had initially deemed “pornographic,” measures 22½ by 29½ inches and retains a Sotheby’s label on verso. From a series of 14 Lennon Conti crayon drawings and titled “Erotic 3,” its pre-sale estimate is $3,000-$5,000.
A number of other highly important 20th-century musicians and bands are highlighted in the auction, including The Byrds, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and many others. Additionally, there are several posters from significant festivals, including the 1970 Open Air Love and Peace Festival in Fehmarn, Germany; the 1970 Diamondhead Crater Sunshine Festival; and Coachella 2014; as well as scarce artist-signed handbills.
Stephenson’s Jan. 1 New Year’s Auction exclusively featuring the Perry Pfeffer estate collection of rock concert posters Part II will be held live at the company’s Southampton (suburban Philadelphia), Pa. gallery, with phone, absentee and Internet live bidding available (through LiveAuctioneers). Start time: 12 noon ET. In-gallery inspection is from 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 31 and on Jan. 1 from 11 a.m till the start of auction. Guests are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing. For additional information on any item in the sale, call Cindy Stephenson at 215-322-6182 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Visit Stephenson’s Auction online at www.stephensonsauction.com.
One new author’s quest to contribute diversity into popular books for kids.
SAN DIEGO, CA, USA, December 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Growing up in the 1980s and 1990s, new author Emma Brightly was an avid reader and good student. She wondered why almost every book she was given, both fiction and nonfiction, had white males in the starring roles.
“I guess women and people of color haven’t done enough to be worth writing about,” was the only conclusion her young mind could come up with. She felt heart-broken.
A study by Florida State University confirms that Brightly’s experience was not an anomaly. The gender-bias and overrepresentation of white characters in 20th-century children’s books is nothing short of shocking.
The study of over 6,000 books published from 1900 to 2000 found that:
• Males are central characters in 57 percent of children’s books published per year, while only 31 percent have female central characters.
• No more than 33 percent of children’s books published in any given year contain central characters that are adult women or female animals, but adult men and male animals appear in up to 100 percent of books.
• Male animals are central characters in more than 23 percent of books per year, while female animals are in only 7.5 percent.
• On average, 36.5 percent of books in each year studied include a male in the title, compared to 17.5 percent that include a female.
• Although books published in the 1990s came close to parity for human characters, a significant disparity of nearly 2 to 1 remains for male animal characters versus female.
“The widespread pattern of underrepresentation of females that we find supports the belief that female characters are less important and interesting than male characters,” said Janice McCabe, the lead sociologist for the study.
Flash forward to 2019. The Guardian looked at the most popular picture books published in 2018 and found that the books, “collectively present a white and male-dominated world to children, feature very few BAME (black, Asian, and minority ethnic) characters and have become more biased against girls in the past year.”
Now as 2020 comes to a close and 2021 begins, one wonders if gender-balanced children’s books with strong female and BAME lead characters can make their way to the bestsellers lists.
“Kids need books that reflect the true brilliant diversity of the world they live in and paint an inspiring picture that they can be great leaders and problem-solvers no matter their skin color or gender,” says Brightly who is working on her first series of books for kids ages 7 to 11 years old.
Brightly’s Kid Star Squad series centers around five main characters, three of whom are female and two of whom are male. Each character has a familial origin from a different part of the world — Northern Africa, Southern Africa, South America, North America, and East Asia.
Brightly hopes that the Kid Star Squad series and other books with diverse and interesting characters (by diverse authors) will rise to the top of kids’ must-read lists. Book 1 of the series is currently free to all readers on Amazon.
“I hope that my children will never come to the same devastating conclusion that I did,” adds Brightly who is currently compiling a list of children’s books with diverse characters from diverse authors to share with teachers, parents, and libraries.

Publisher announces new slate of books available for both distribution and licensing/development
CLEVELAND, OHIO, USA, December 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Operating a small publishing firm during a global pandemic isn’t easy, but Cleveland based ATBOSH Media Ltd. has been churning out a steady stream of content all year long.
In the world of poetry ATBOSH has released: “In the Garden of Old Age” by Nina Gibans, with photography by Abby Star, a series of poems about memory – collected ideas from a rich life with continuous interactions — ideas and people; “The Sunken Restaurant and Other Verse” by Philip Taylor, a light-hearted but incisive collection of comic verse written during the 1980’s; “Yamamba’s Mountains” by Linda C. Ehrlich, inspired by the medieval-period Japanese Noh play Yamamba, and by Ohba Minako’s short story “Smile of a Mountain Witch” which contemporizes the Yamamba legend; and “Encore: A Collection of Verse & Song Poems” a collection of poetry and songs written by Marjorie E. Potter from 1969 to 2009, Marjorie passed away in April 2020.
On the more narrative side of things, Publishers Weekly said of RJ Benson’s “Fallen Virtue (Of Beasts and Buzzards Series Book 1)” that “Benson’s well-crafted story and dynamic relationships make for a promising series opener.” Angels, demons, love, ruin, and musicians in Cincinnati, Ohio, “Fallen Virtue” is a “steamy debut paranormal thriller offers a unique interpretation of angelic lore.”
“The Life of Frederick Maehle from His Memoirs” by Gerda Freedheim is the story of Frederick “Fritz” Maehle who kept a journal from 1913 to 1940. A story of survival of a family devastated and fragmented by World War I, then the Great Depression, and finally WWII.
“No Life But This: A Novel of Emily Warren Roebling” by Diane Vogel Ferri is the story of a remarkable woman who lived from 1843 to 1903, and whose accomplishments would seem unbelievable if they were not true. She was an ardent feminist who was well ahead of her time and served as the liaison and field supervisor for the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge.
While working on his upcoming text “Discovering Digital Humanity” (coming Summer 2021), author and educator Tom Haymes pulled out all of the stops to write “Learn at Your Own Risk: 9 Strategies for Thriving in a Pandemic and Beyond” to address educational issues during the global pandemic.
Popular Cleveland area cooking instructor Judi Strauss has released “Judi Strauss’ Big Red Cookbook”, comprised of 24 mini cookbooks and is over 600 pages of do-it-yourself culinary goodness.
ATBOSH Media Ltd. is proud to announce an extended agreement to publish and republish the works of Nina Freedlander Gibans. This includes the “yet to be published” poetry books “Coins in the Fountain” and “A Festival of Friends” as well as “Darling Nina, Love Jim” – the collection of love letters from her late husband written from 1954 to 1956. This agreement also includes the reprinting of the poetry books “18 Gardens and their Gardeners” and “And So I Must Imagine” as well as the very important non-fiction references “The Community Arts Council Movement: History, Opinions, Issues” and “Bridges to Understanding Children’s Museums” both long out of print.
Nina’s ever popular “Celebrating the Soul of Cleveland” has been recorded as an audiobook by her grandson and is currently in post-production. “A Bird in the Deep: The True Story of the USS Partridge” has been narrated by the author James Christopher Krouse as an audio book and is also in post-production. Sunk during the Battle of Normandy, the USS Partridge may have inspired Herman Wouk’s World War II novel, The Caine Mutiny.
Even a publishing company can have their own favorite books.
“Albert: An Autobiography” by Albert Borowitz was written when Al was 13 but published when he was 87 – a light and precocious read.
“Tales from the Locker Room: An Anecdotal Portrait of George Szell and his Cleveland Orchestra” by Lawrence Angell and Bernette Jaffe still delights everyone who reads it.
“Man of the World: Book 1 of The Odyssey Expedition” by Graham Hughes. Graham is the only person to have visited every country in the world without flying. While on his journey he presented the travel series “Graham’s World”, which was commissioned by National Geographic, produced by Lonely Planet, distributed by BBC Worldwide and broadcast in over 50 countries around the world. Book 1 earned him a coveted Kirkus Starred Review (and they named it one of 2018’s best books of the year) and the audio book is narrated with joyful enthusiasm by Graham himself. “Man of the World” is a must read! Graham is currently working on books 2 (and 3).
“The Present Past” by Leonard Ross is a spy thriller set in the 1960s and involves set pieces all over the world. Leonard Ross really viewed himself as the Jewish Ian Fleming and the book is a real page turner!
As an Agency Press, ATBOSH Media Ltd. also serves as the literary agent for both the written work as well as their derivative works including television and film rights for most of the books they publish.
Larger publishing houses interested in publishing or distributing the work or production companies interested in optioning the work should contact Jared Bendis directly at email@example.com or call 216-288-6349.
